What is a Figma to Adobe XD converter for?
Adobe XD can’t open Figma files, but it does import SVG. The catch is that the SVG Figma exports uses things XD doesn’t handle well: style sheets, <use> references, alpha masks, shadows written as eight chained filters, and background blur. On import, XD drops masks, renders odd shadows or misplaces images.
This tool rewrites Figma’s SVG as plain SVG that XD imports properly: it turns styles into attributes, replaces references with copies of what they point to, converts alpha masks into clipping masks (the kind XD uses), rewrites shadows and layer blur in the form XD exports itself, removes what XD can’t import (such as background blur) and sets the drawing size in pixels.
Upload one or more .svg files or paste the code from Figma’s “Copy as SVG”. You’ll see a preview and a summary of what was adapted. Then copy the SVG and paste it into XD with Ctrl+V, or download it and drag it onto the XD canvas.
Everything happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded. The free try converts one SVG; with ToolStudio Pro you get unlimited use and can convert several files at once.
How do I move a Figma design to Adobe XD?
- In Figma, select the frame and right-click › Copy/Paste as › Copy as SVG (or export it as SVG).
- Paste the code in the “Paste SVG code” tab or upload the .svg file.
- Click “Convert for XD”.
- Click “Copy SVG” and paste into Adobe XD with Ctrl+V, or download the .svg and drag it onto the canvas (or use File › Import).
When should you move Figma designs to XD?
- Handing screens or icons to a client or team that still works in Adobe XD.
- Bringing Figma illustrations and logos into an XD project.
- Reusing Figma components in a prototype built in XD.
- Fixing Figma SVGs that look wrong when imported into XD (masks, shadows, images).
Supported formats
- Input: SVG exported from Figma (.svg file up to 50 MB, or pasted code). SVG from other apps works too.
- Output: SVG prepared for Adobe XD, to copy and paste or download.
- .fig files can’t be converted: only Figma itself opens them. Export the frame as SVG first.
- To get text as editable text, turn off “Outline text” in Figma’s SVG export settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I open a Figma file (.fig) in Adobe XD?
No. Neither XD nor any outside tool can read .fig files. What works is exporting from Figma as SVG (“Copy as SVG” or Export › SVG) and running that SVG through this tool so XD imports it properly.
Why not just import Figma’s SVG into XD as it is?
Because Figma writes alpha masks, chained filters, styles and references into the SVG that XD’s importer misreads or ignores: masks are lost, shadows change or elements disappear. The tool rewrites them in a form XD understands.
Can I paste the result straight into XD?
Click “Copy SVG” and paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) on the XD canvas. If your XD version doesn’t paste SVG code, download the .svg file and drag it onto the canvas or open it with File › Import.
Is the text editable?
Only if the SVG contains text. Figma turns text into outlines by default when exporting SVG; untick “Outline text” in the export settings to keep it as text, and have the same fonts installed.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened and converted in your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server and never leaves your computer, so you can use it with client work and confidential projects.
Is it free?
You get one free try: convert one SVG. For more files, or several at once, you need ToolStudio Pro, which gives you unlimited use of every tool, batch processing and no ads. Cancel anytime.
