Why change the metadata of a PDF?
The PDF title is what the browser tab, PDF readers and often Google search results display. If the document was exported with a title like “Document1” or with someone else’s username as the author, it looks sloppy and makes the file harder to find.
This editor lets you change the title, author, subject, keywords, creating application, producer and the creation and modification dates. Leave a field empty to delete it.
PDFs store this data twice: in the document properties and in the XMP packet. The tool updates both so every reader shows the same thing, and keeps the rest of the XMP (such as the PDF/A declaration). Pages, text and images do not change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the content of the PDF change?
No. Only the properties and the XMP packet are changed; pages, text and images stay as they are.
Why did Acrobat keep showing the old title with other editors?
Because many editors only change the properties and leave the old value in the XMP, and Acrobat gives priority to the XMP. This tool updates both.
Does the PDF title help SEO?
Google can use the PDF title in search results, so a descriptive title helps the document be understood and found.
Can I edit protected PDFs?
No. If the PDF is encrypted or password-protected, its metadata cannot be changed.
Can I edit several PDFs at once?
Yes, with ToolStudio Pro: the fields you change are applied to every PDF you add. The free try covers one PDF.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Editing happens in your browser.
Is it free?
