What does a PDF reveal without you knowing?
When you export a document to PDF, the program copies into the file the author’s name (often your username or your company’s name), the creation and modification dates, the program and its version, and sometimes the original file title. Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign can also store private application data.
If you send a contract, a CV, a proposal or an anonymous report, that data can reveal who made it, when or from which template. Removing it leaves a neutral PDF.
The tool deletes the document properties, the document’s XMP packet and those on pages, images and fonts, plus private application data, and cleans up the objects left unused so no leftovers remain in the file. Pages, text, images and links do not change.
Everything happens in your browser. If the PDF claims PDF/A compliance, the tool warns you: without XMP it no longer meets that archiving standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the content of the PDF change?
No. Pages, text, images, links and forms stay as they are. Only the metadata and the objects left unused are removed.
Does it delete hidden text or layers?
No. This tool removes metadata, not content. Text covered with boxes and hidden layers are still in the PDF.
What about PDF/A files?
A PDF/A needs its XMP packet. If you remove it, the document no longer meets PDF/A; the tool warns you first.
How do I know everything has been removed?
After processing, the tool reads the resulting PDF again and shows you how many fields are left.
Can I clean several PDFs at once?
Yes, with ToolStudio Pro: add all your PDFs and download them in a ZIP. The free try covers one PDF.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Is it free?
You can try it free with one PDF. ToolStudio Pro gives you unlimited use and batch processing across every tool.
