Free try with 1 file. Several at once with Pro.

Your files never leave your device: everything runs in your browser.

Your photos can reveal where you live

Almost every phone stores in each photo the GPS coordinates of where it was taken, accurate to within a few metres. If you share the photo as a file, anyone can open that data and see your home, your workplace or your children’s school on a map.

This tool first shows you the location stored in the photo, with a link to the map, and then removes it. It deletes the coordinates, altitude, direction and GPS time from the EXIF, as well as the copies in the XMP block.

Unlike removing all metadata, everything else is kept here: the photo’s date, the camera, the author and the copyright are still there, so your galleries and photo apps keep sorting it the same way. The image is not recompressed.

Some phones store extra images or videos inside the photo (motion photos, HDR maps). Since these can carry their own location, the tool removes them too and tells you so.

How to remove the location from a photo

  1. Drag the photo onto the tool or click to choose it.
  2. If it has GPS, you will see a warning with the position and a link to the map.
  3. Click “Remove GPS location”.
  4. Download the photo: the tool checks that no location is left.

When to use it

  • Before posting photos of your home on a property sale or rental site.
  • Before sending photos of your children to other families or the school.
  • To share travel photos without revealing where you are staying.
  • To deliver work photos without your clients’ addresses.
  • When you want to keep the date and camera but not the place.

Formats

  • JPG, PNG and WebP.
  • HEIC photos need to be converted to JPG first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t social networks already remove the location?

Many do when you post, but not always when you send the photo as a file, by email or on websites and forums. Removing it yourself is the safe way to be sure.

Is the rest of the data deleted?

No. Only the GPS location is removed. If you want to delete all metadata, use Remove EXIF & Image Metadata.

Does the photo lose quality?

No. Only the metadata changes; the image is not compressed again.

How do I check that the location is gone?

After processing, the tool reads the file again and shows “No GPS location”. You can also open it in the EXIF Viewer.

Can I remove GPS from many photos at once?

Yes, with ToolStudio Pro: add all your photos and download them in a ZIP. The free try covers one photo.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser; your photos never leave your device.

Is it free?

You can try it free with one photo. ToolStudio Pro gives you unlimited use and batch processing across every tool.
