Why extract the images from a document in Word?
Often the only copy of some photos or a logo is inside a document in Word. Copying them one by one is slow, and screenshots lower their quality. This tool gets them all out at once.
A .docx file is really a package that stores each image as a separate file. The tool extracts them as they are, in their original format (JPG, PNG, GIF…) and resolution, with no recompression. Even if an image was cropped or shrunk on the document, you get the full file that was inserted.
You see a thumbnail of each image with its dimensions, in the order they were inserted into the document. Repeated images appear once, and you can skip icons under 50 px. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.
The file is opened in your browser and never uploaded to a server. The free try extracts every image from one file; with ToolStudio Pro there are no limits and you can process several files at once.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the images lose quality?
No. You get the original image file that was inserted, byte for byte, with no recompression. If the image was cropped on the document, you get the whole image.
Why do some images come out as EMF or WMF?
Those are Windows vector drawings that Word stores that way (pasted charts or icons, for example). They download as they are; you can open them with Word, Inkscape or LibreOffice.
Does it work with old .doc files or password-protected files?
No. Old files and password-protected ones don’t store their images in a readable way. Open them in Word, remove the password if there is one, and save them as .docx.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened and processed right in your browser. It’s never uploaded to a server and never leaves your device, so you can safely use it with contracts, invoices or personal documents.
Is it free?
You get one free try: it extracts every image from one file. To process more files, or several at once, you need ToolStudio Pro, which gives you unlimited use of every tool, batch processing and no ads. You can cancel any time.
