Convert PDF to JPG or PNG

Save every page of a PDF as an image, at the resolution you need.

Drop your PDF here or click to choose it

PDF files up to 200 MB.

Everything runs in your browser: your files are never uploaded to a server.

Why convert a PDF to an image?

Some places just don’t take PDFs: a social media post, a slide, a website that only accepts images or a chat where you want the page to show up straight away. Converting the PDF to JPG or PNG solves that in seconds.

Each page becomes a separate image. Choose JPG for photos and scanned documents (smaller files) or PNG for text, charts and drawings (sharp edges, no artifacts). Resolution ranges from 72 dpi, enough for screens, to 300 dpi, the usual for printing.

When it’s done, you’ll see a thumbnail of each image. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP, with the page number in the file name so they stay in order.

The PDF is rendered in your browser with pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs, and it’s never uploaded to a server. The free trial converts one full PDF; with ToolStudio Pro you get unlimited use and can convert several PDFs at once.

How to convert a PDF to JPG

  1. Drag your PDF onto the page or click to choose it.
  2. Choose the format (JPG or PNG) and the resolution.
  3. Click “Convert to image”.
  4. Download each image, or all of them in a ZIP.

When to convert a PDF to an image

  • Post a page from a catalog or a poster on Instagram or LinkedIn.
  • Insert a PDF page into a presentation or a Word document.
  • Upload a document to a website or form that only accepts images.
  • Share a page on WhatsApp so people can see it without opening a PDF.
  • Create thumbnails or previews of a document.

Formats and resolution

  • Input: any PDF up to 200 MB without an open password.
  • Output: JPG (quality 75, 90 or 100%) or lossless PNG.
  • Resolution: 72, 150 or 300 dpi. Very large pages are capped at about 16 megapixels so the browser can render them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which resolution should I choose?

150 dpi works well for viewing on screen and sharing; 300 dpi is the usual for printing; 72 dpi gives very light files for the web.

JPG or PNG?

JPG for photos and scans, because the files are smaller. PNG for text, charts or drawings, because it keeps edges sharp and holds more detail.

Are all pages converted?

Yes, every page of the PDF becomes an image. If you only need some of them, extract them first with Split PDF.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed right in your browser. It’s never uploaded to a server and never leaves your device, so you can safely use it with contracts, invoices or personal documents.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

PDFs with an open password can’t be opened without it. First remove the password in the program you created the file with (or in your PDF reader, using the password), then try again.

Is it free?

You get one free try per tool: one PDF (two for merging, one image for creating a PDF). You can reprocess that same file with different settings as many times as you like, but to process a new file you need ToolStudio Pro, which gives you unlimited use of every tool, batch processing (several files at once, downloaded together in a ZIP) and no ads. You can cancel anytime.
